James Mitchell specializes in pharmaceutical patent litigation, including “Hatch-Waxman” litigation, chemical patent litigation, and trademark litigation. He has broad experience in all areas of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, litigation, unfair competition, licensing and international trade. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan in 1968 and his BS Degree in Chemistry from Michigan Technological University in 1965. Mr. Mitchell is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is admitted to practice before the State and Federal Courts of Michigan, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Sixth Circuit, and other circuits, and is a member of the Grand Rapids and American Bar Associations and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. In addition, Mr. Mitchell is a life member of the Board of Trustees of the Michigan Tech Fund and is a past Chairman of the Board of Control of Michigan Technological University. He has served on several committees reviewing and recommending candidates for Federal Judicial appointment.
