Jessica joined Price Heneveld in 2018 and brought over ten years of intellectual property experience in the chemical and mechanical arts. She earned her B.S. in Chemistry from Grand Valley State University, where she also worked as a research assistant at the R.B. Annis Water Resources Institute. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Michigan, where she worked as part of a multi-disciplinary team of scientists investigating and developing targeted nano-therapeutics for cancer treatments based on a polymeric delivery system.  After completing her Ph.D., Jessica was a postdoctoral fellow for the Program of Translational Medicine at the Van Andel Research Institute where she continued to work in the area of targeted nano-therapeutics for cancer treatments.

Jessica began her career in intellectual property in 2008 and became a USPTO Registered Patent Agent in 2010.  She has experience in preparing and prosecuting U.S. and PCT patent applications, preparing non-infringement, patentability and clearance opinions, performing landscape searches, and conducting patent invalidity analyses.  Jessica’s fields of experience include cleaning and laundry compositions and packaging, composite materials, thermoforming/injection molding, extrusion products, aerosols, nutraceuticals, home and residential construction materials, home appliances, paper and plastic-based packaging and containers, and office furniture, among others.
