Mark C. Willard
Mark joined Price Heneveld in 2021 after becoming a member of the State Bar of Michigan. He has over three years of experience as an Intellectual Property Intern specializing in patents and has been a registered patent agent since 2019. Mark has experience in patent preparation and prosecution in various fields such as automotive, artificial intelligence, healthcare, and consumer products. Some specific areas of technology that Mark has worked with include machine learning, electro-chemical devices, motor control, hydraulic suspension, braking systems, and respiration systems. Mark has experience advising clients as to invalidity, freedom-to-operate, and patentability opinions. He has also prepared numerous invalidation and non-infringement claim chart filings for patent litigation defense.
Mark graduated from Calvin College with a B.S.E. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Before attending law school, Mark worked as an electrical controls engineer designing, commissioning, and maintaining automated manufacturing and assembly processes. Mark enjoys working closely with inventors in order to understand their inventions as deeply as they do. By having a thorough grasp of the complexity an invention, Mark is able to achieve meaningful and broad coverage for clients.
Mark is an active member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and formerly served as a member of the Michigan IP Inn of Court.
