Brian Cheslek has been at Price Heneveld since 2004 and currently serves as the Managing Partner.  Brian provides counsel to clients in a variety of areas of intellectual property law including procurement, licensing and enforcement of patents primarily in the mechanical, medical, and automotive technology areas. Brian advises a variety of clients including privately held multi-national corporations as well as Fortune 500 companies and has extensive experience managing large and complex intellectual property portfolios for large technology driven organizations. He also has substantial knowledge in preparing patentability, non-infringement and invalidity opinions, and has significant expertise in patent and trademark prosecution as well as domain-name dispute resolution. Brian has experience not only defending clients, but also enforcing intellectual property rights. Prior to practicing law, Brian worked in software design and systems analysis and also developed engineering experience with both waste management technologies and construction products.

Brian is the former Chair for the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, in which he provided leadership to the Grand Rapids Bar IP Section, which facilitates forums for non-patent attorneys to gain understanding about patent law. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and a Juris Doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of The John Marshall Review of Intellectual Property Law, and was a contributing author to his law school’s Center for Intellectual Property Law News Source.
