Price Heneveld to sponsor reception at the 2018 AIPLA Annual Meeting

Price Heneveld LLP will be the sponsor of a reception at the upcoming Annual Meeting of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (“AIPLA”). The reception is taking place during the joint educational session of the Industrial Designs and IP Practice in Europe Committees, taking place on Thursday October 25, 2018, from 3:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. The AIPLA Annual Meeting runs from October 25-57 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Price Heneveld attorney Michael Hages is the co-chair of the Industrial Designs subcommittee for education and event planning and is coordinating the session, which will include presentations from USPTO and WIPO representatives on design patent examination in the United States and recent developments regarding the Hague system for international design applications. The session will also feature presentations on post-Brexit use of the UK design patent system and updates on recent case law on European Registered Designs. The Price Heneveld sponsored reception will include complementary beverages and will take place during the second hour of the session. The reception coincides with a roundtable presentation and open discussion focusing on the Federal Circuit’s recent decision, In re Maatita. All are welcome to attend and encouraged to share insights regarding Maatita’s impact on design patent practice, including the risks and benefits of filing design applications seeking the type of broad coverage allowed by the decision.
