Russell Franks joined Price Heneveld in 2022 as a patent attorney. Prior to joining, he accumulated eight years of experience in an Am Law 200 firm, working initially three years as a clerk through law school and subsequently five years as an attorney. Russell has experience drafting and prosecuting foreign and domestic patents in a wide variety of technologies including automotive components, autonomous driving systems, human-robot interaction, medical devices, gaming systems, and in an array of additional fields. He also has extensive experience preparing and prosecuting design patents, preparing invalidity opinions including post-grant filings with the U.S. Patent Office, freedom-to-operate opinions, and work-around advisement.

Russell graduated from Kalamazoo College with a B.S. in Physics. Before attending law school, he worked in the legal field studying negative side effects of pharmaceuticals and medical devices for large mass tort litigations. While in law school, Russell also worked as a judicial clerk, managing the Court’s daily docket, preparing and reviewing orders submitted to the judge, and interviewing numerous individuals seeking emergency ex-parte motions. With now a focus on patent law, Russell has a deep satisfaction working with inventors in various fields and learning about new technologies. While developing relationships with clients, he also enjoys reviewing competitor portfolios and providing guidance during development phases.
